Further to the notice about the 2nd FDEB and that the Alton, Hampshire ‘Bus and Pub Running Day’ no longer existed. It has recently come to my notice that it has been ‘reborn’ following a couple of years’ rest following the Pandemic.
This is great news, especially since Bill particularly loved this event. So instead of doing the route 297 in September mentioned in the last notice, we will do the Alton trip on Sunday 17th July.
The plan is to meet at Clapham Junction again. ‘Piggies’ cafe at 113 Falcon Road (which we used last time) may not be open on a Sunday but, there is a newish Wetherspoons on the corner of Falcon Road. The trains to Alton leave Clapham Junction at 15 minutes past the hour so a more leisurely departure time of 10.15 for a Sunday, arriving at Alton at 11.31 seems appropriate. So meet in the ‘Spoons’ between 8.30 and 9.00 AM.
The routes and timetable for the free buses running from Alton station to the surrounding villages are not available as yet. Check the event on their website. http://www.altonbusrally.org.uk.
Trains return to London at 15 and 45 minutes past the hour (eg. 19.15 arriving London 20.23 etc).
Please email me at ‘pchutter.spbw@yahoo.com‘ if you plan to come along.
