The proposed EGM in September has had to be postponed, due to the ongoing uncertainty about social gathering. We will attempt to hold this meeting whenever we can; it will immediately precede a regular NEC meeting.
For the record, the purpose of the Meeting will be to approve two proposed amendments to the NEC Constitution.
Section 4 (b) currently reads: “The NEC shall consist of the following officers:- Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Pint in Hand editor, Membership Secretary, Products manager, Branch Liaison officer and one general member who shall be elected at the Annual General Meeting of the NEC. Other members may be co-opted on to the NEC.”
Since the post of Wood Liaison has become more significant, it is felt that this should become a ‘named post’ on the Committee. Also, to ensure that we can meet our commitments to the membership and especially to outside organisations, where our reputation and image are hung out for public display, an additional post of Events coordinator is suggested.
Proposal: in Section 4(b) as above, add: add after Branch Liaison officer: “, Wood Liaison officer, Events coordinator, and one……”
Section 11(a) currently begins: “The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the NEC shall take place in the week commencing on the second Monday in March each year.”
The NEC would like more flexibility in arranging the date of the AGM, mostly to avoid a clash with 6 Nations Rugby Union.
Proposal: the first sentence of Section 11(a) should be amended to read: “The …(AGM)…shall take place during March each year on a date to be determined by the NEC. This date will be notified to SPBW members not less than four months before the day of the AGM.”
