Reminder – please advise us if you plan to attend and also if you want food
The 2023 AGM of the NEC will be held on 25 March at the iconic White Horse (aka ‘Sloaney Pony’) in Parsons Green, London SW6 4UL. The pub is only 2 minutes’ walk south of Parsons Green underground station on the Wimbledon branch of the District Line. The meeting will start at 12.30 prompt in the upstairs function room (the pub opens at noon). The White Horse usually offers 6 draught beers and there is a very generous discount for CAMRA members. All SPBW members are invited to attend this meeting.
We are unable to provide free food! If you want a set meal you will need to order this at the bar. The full list of options can be viewed at www.whitehorsesw6.com. Food booking is now closed. We can also organize a buffet (this was excellent value last year, see menu on line), but please inform Peter Chutter at ‘firstname.lastname@example.org‘ or text to 07517 201121 by Thursday evening 17 March if you require the buffet. We are hoping to arrange a discount on the food. If you book the buffet and then cannot attend please let Peter know by Wednesday 22 March, otherwise you may still be liable for payment (we are taking this on trust). Whether or not you’ll require feeding, please let Peter know if you intend to attend.
* The post of Products Manager has become vacant. This key role mainly involves maintaining the stock of SPBW products and ordering from manufacturers. Please let John Rooth (details on p2) if you are interested in taking this on.
* A few changes to the NEC Constitution have been proposed by the Committee for ratification at the AGM. These are set out below with changes shown in italics.
4. National Executive Committee (NEC)
(a) The NEC shall be the guiding body of the Society and shall meet monthly, unless agreed otherwise at a previous meeting.
(c) Any new nominee for an NEC post should be an SPBW National Member.
11. Annual General Meeting
(a) The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the NEC shall take place during March each year on a date to be determined by the NEC. This date will be notified to SPBW members not less than four months before the date of the AGM. Any member of the Society may attend and vote at the AGM.
(b) Only National Members and current NEC members may be permitted to vote at the AGM.
(c) Proxy voting may be allowed in extenuating circumstances to be decided on a case-by-case basis by the Chair and Vice-Chair of the NEC.
(f) Any member in attendance may seek election, at the discretion of the Chairman, if no nominations have been so received by the Secretary. That member must be an SPBW National Member.
* After the meeting there will be the usual pubs ramble, possibly in the Putney area.
